From modest beginnings in 2001, visionary entrepreneurs Mr. Chandra Prasad Dhakal and Mr. Hem Raj Dhakal laid the foundation for a world-class organization that would transform Nepal’s business landscape.

1990s

1994

  • Opened a grocery store in Chetrapati, Kathmandu

1996

  • Founded Mount Pumori Air Cargo, a freight forwarding company

1998

  • Established IME Travels, a tour and travel company

1998

  • Launched CM Trading Enterprises, a trading subsidiary of the group

1999

  • Established International Money Exchange

2000 – 2010

2001

  • Established IME Remit, the country’s first MTC, licensed by the central bank of Nepal

2003

  • Expanded IME Remit in the UK

2004

  • Entered into financial sector and establishes IME Financial Institution Ltd.
  • Developed the business into hydro sector and establishes Himalayan Power Partners

2007

  • Established Global IME Bank, the largest commercial bank at its time
  • Entered into ICT and establishes Swift Technology
  • Expanded further in the hydel sector and establishes Mountain Energy Nepal
  • Advanced into herbal sector and establishes IME Herbal

2008

  • Expanded into the manufacturing sector and establishes IME Oxygen
  • Entered into merchant banking through Global IME Capital

2009

  • Entered into automobile trading and establishes IME Automotives
  • Thriveed into the hospitality sector and establishes Chandragiri Hills, an integrated tourist destination
  • Entered into portfolio investment and establishes Hathway Investment Nepal
  • Establisheed IME Foundation as a CSR initiative

2010

  • Entered in the infotainment sector and establishes Dish Home Media Network

2011 – 2020

  • Expanded IME Remit in the USA
  • Entered into microfinance and establishes IME Cooperative Service

2012

  • Merged IME Financial Institution into Global IME Bank

2014

  • IME Remit received the CIP award from the Government of Nepal
  • IME Remit received the highest taxpayer award from the government of Nepal among the remittance companies in Nepal

2015

  • IME Automotives acquired the distributorship of Escorts Construction Equipment for Nepal
  • Established IME Motors (formerly known as LT Enterprises) and acquires distributorship of Ashok Leyland Commercial Vehicles for Nepal
  • IME (M) Sdn. Bhd. forged alliance with Ria Financial Services
  • IME Remit received the highest taxpayer award for the second consecutive year from the government of Nepal among the remittance companies in Nepal

2016

  • Commenced the commercial operation of Chandragiri Hills Cable Car
  • IME Remit received the highest taxpayer award for the third consecutive year from the government of Nepal among the remittance companies in Nepal
  • Entered into digital financing (IME Pay) and establishes IME Digital Solution
  • Entered into the insurance sector and acquires NB Insurance, now known as IME GeneralInsurance
  • Entered into retail chain businesses and establishes My Mart Nepal

2017

  • Expanded insurance sector and establishes IME Life Insurance Company

2018

  • IME Automotives acquired the distributorship of Harley Davidson Bikes for Nepal
  • IME International Travels got appointed as SalamAir’s General Sales Agent for Nepal

2019

  • Commenced soft operation of Chandragiri Hills Resort

2020 – Present

2021

  • Commenced soft operation of Lumbini Cable Car
  • Maula Kalika Cable Car was established.
  • Acquired FC Chitwan and entered into the world of sports
